Adoption process

Adopting a dog is an exciting and serious commitment! Our adoption coordinators strive to find a dog who will be the best fit for your family.

To begin the process, please submit an adoption application. Following the submission of your application, our team will reach out to the email and/or phone number on file to schedule a phone interview.

BARRK will also contact your landlord (if applicable), personal references, and vet references.  Resident dogs must be up to date on all age appropriate vaccinations. You will also be asked to record a home video.

After the above steps are completed, you may be placed in a group chat with the foster home. Meet & greets as well as final pickup must be scheduled on a timely basis. You will receive an email informing you of your approval together with a BARRK Adoption Contract and link to pay the required adoption fee which is NON-REFUNDABLE. Signed contracts and adoption fees MUST BE PAID WITHIN 24 HOURS to finalize the adoption process otherwise your requested dog will be available to other applicants.

The application review process can take up to a week or longer depending on the volume of applications, dogs/puppies available, and number of volunteers available. We make every attempt to let you know the status of your app, but sometimes we cannot if there is an overabundance of apps for one dog or puppy.  We are an ALL VOLUNTEER organization, and do NOT have a facility or paid staff. Your patience is appreciated.

Adoption Fees are as follows:

$550 for puppies and adults up to age 6

$450 for adults 7+ or special needs dogs

**Please note, all PayPal transactions will incur an additional $20 charge, paid by the adopter
